Happy Halloween!!
This month was a fun one :) Our classroom got to celebrate a few fun days:
- Thanksgiving - celebrated by learning about being thankful for our each and everyone of our families, no matter how different they may look
- First Day of Snow - we got to trek threw the snow during our walks, and explore how it feels, smells and sounds like
- Halloween - the kids had a great time decorating pumpkins, making crafts, dancing, counting and reading about pumpkins!
Spotlight Moments:
Social Skills - Our students really got to develop some new and amazing friendships! I am so proud of our class for learning to play with others with socially appropriate interactions of sharing, taking turns, initiating conversations and asking to join in on others games.
Social Studies - As we continue to learn about our individual selves and our community, this month we focused on our unique families, and will be continuing this into November. All our families look so different. Some of us have brothers, or/and sisters, moms and/or dads, or special, loving guardians. But there is one common thread, and that is Love.
Functional Living Skills - This month we continued to learn all our new routines and transition times and strategies. We enjoy doing our task bins, where we have individualized learning activities that are specific to our learning needs. We continue to develop our independence in our daily living using the Prompting Hierarchy model. We continue to become more independent in our every lives.
Self-Regulation - Our class has been learning that we are all different and we all have different needs. We are learning that it is okay to be upset or angry, and that there are appropriate ways to calm down. Each of us have different strategies that work for them to help them when they are upset. We will continue this learning into November with The Zones of Regulation.
